As if we’re not busy enough we now have another new dimension to add into the mix. Holly decided now was the time to start toilet training, all by herself. The other night when she was running around naked after her bath she picked up her potty, put it down directly in front of Sven, did a wee, stood up and said “Wees Daddy!”… and sure enough she had done a wee! We gave her so much praise and she was ever so excited and proud. So much so that she then did it again three more times and then a forth time on the toilet!
I don’t think she really wants to do poos on the potty as tonight during her bath she said “Poos Mummy. Nappy on.” (Isn’t that adorable) but I’m sure she’ll get there. I’m just so proud of her. We even started a chart for her to keep track of all her successes but she has so many stamps up her arms at the moment that she’s starting to look a bit feral
heehee
Simon’s going okay. I think it’s a bit too hot overnight for him at the moment though because he’s been waking up more. Last night after he went to bed at 7pm, he woke/fed at 10pm, 2:30am, 4:30am, 6am before I got him up at 7am for the start of our day. Can I just say zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. He’s also been catnapping (sleeping for 30-40 minutes) during each of his daytime sleep so I signed up to get help from Tizzie again (the same lady who helped sort out Holly’s sleeping). I am soooooo looking forward to having her help.
Anyway, here’s what you’re looking for: the pics.

Here’s Holly letting Uncie Guy and Aunty Anita know where they should be sitting…

And here’s Holly her friend with Andrew Beckitt (Note to Daniel and Julia, you can point your friends here to see a recent photo of your little one if you like heehee cheeky me).

Can you believe that Simon will be 6 weeks old already on Tuesday? I’m totally stunned that he’s already that old - time has really flown. We’re all going okay. As Sven said in his last post, we’re still suffering cranky times from lack of sleep but we’re getting better at it all, I think.Â
Simon’s been smiling and giggling heaps in the last week (which helps make everything easier to cope with). He’s having much more awake time now so we can actually interact with him while he’s not feeding. Even though I’ve done my very best to teach Simon the best sleeping techniques I could, we’ve been having a few problems with him. He’s only sleeping one sleep cycle for each sleeptime then falling asleep almost immediately after I pick him up or put him in the pram. And because he’s not sleeping properly when he’s supposed to he’s gone back to being a sleepy eater. I’m certain he’s not going to be underfed but it does mean that feeding him has gone back to taking over an hour again. Not so much fun when he’s feeding every three hours.
Holly’s going fantastically. She’s just astounding us with how quickly she learns and how much she understands/comprehends. She’s even started singing! Well, she sings enough for us to know what song she wants us to sing to her, but sometimes she gets a little distracted. For example, when she was in the bath tonight Sven asked her to sing Bah Bah Black Sheep and it came out like “Bah bah black sheep ducky… hot…duckies”. Heehee ever so cute!
Anyway, here are some photos.Â

Simon on the playmat…

Everything’s moving at a frantic pace at the moment, so I thought I should write a few things down while I can still remember what life is currently like. Veronica, Holly, and Simon are all doing wonderfully. Sleep is still an issue some days, but we’re managing to survive the cranky times, and we know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel in that regard. So, without anything more significant to concern us, we really can’t complain too much.
It’s Easter again, and given that she’s breastfeeding, Veronica can’t eat chocolate :(Â I think that’s probably more an issue than the lack of sleep at the moment.Â
Simon is making strong eye contact now, is starting to make noises other than crying, and seems to be generally taking more of an interest in the world. He’s feeding well and growing rapidly. Veronica did tell me how much he weighs now, but I’ve completely forgotten.
Holly is growing more independent, and more able to articulate her thoughts. She’s a little bored at home at the moment, since Simon is taking up a lot of V’s time, but hopefully things should settle down once Simon settles into his routine properly, and Holly will get more one-on-one time with Mummy. Yesterday morning, I said it was time for me to go to work, and Holly replied “Stay home, Daddy!” Awww :)Â
As always, I’m sure I’ve forgotten all sorts of other things, but I’ll just have to post them if and when I remember. More photos to come soon, too, I promise!
Amazing how time flies! Simon is growing very quickly, and time seems to be passing much more quickly than it did when Holly was born. Anyway, no time for much text now, but here are a few pics.
